Another Round - Escapades of a Peripatetic Anti-Soccer Mom

About

Look up “peripatetic” in the dictionary…it means walking or traveling about; itinerant. I’ve moved 18 times in the last 20 years lived in two different countries, five different states or provinces, and 12 different cities. I’m a wanderer, physically, spiritually and mentally.

The title of this blog comes from a song by Enter the Haggis that begins, “Whiskey’s gone, another round. Train moves on, another town.” They’ve said the song is about life on the road. It speaks to me because among the wandering I’ve done, road-tripping to hear music has been a big part of my life. 50 Grateful Dead shows in six years, a dozen and counting Haggis shows, and over 100 other live music events.

So what do I write about? My kid. My life. My husband. Music, particularly of the live variety. Vegetarian recipes. Recipes for baked goods. Slow food. Organic and locally grown food. Crafts and sewing. Gaming. Renaissance Faires. Science fiction conventions. Politics (although rarely). Social justice. Homebirth. Midwifery. Social networking. Interesting links people send me. Rants about this, that and the other thing. Pretty much whatever catches my fancy. I said I was a wanderer…

Who the hell am I? I’m an eclectic, eccentric, nose-pierced, bread-baking, quirky, veggie-eating, music-loving, suburbia-hating, non-conforming, authority questioning hippie. Mama to a beautiful little girl and wife to a very tolerant Canadian. Blessed with the best circle of friends a woman could wish for, all over the world. I’m a pagan in the bible-belt. I’m a polyamorous, bisexual, somewhat kinky, sex-positive woman in a sea of vanilla.

Yes, I write under a pseudonym of a sort. Many people know me by the name I use here, but not the people at work or at my daughter’s school. Not my family, who would be tolerant but highly confused and possibly hurt. Should I be out and proud? Probably. But I’m not going to do it at the expense of those I love.

Got questions? Ask and ye shall be answered.

peace out…Leah
